Reel Women is a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas that provides a local support system for women at all levels of experience in the film and video industries.
In pursuit of our mission we are:
aiding and directly promoting the education, networking and mentoring of women filmmakers.
providing an information and resource pool that includes audition notices, employment referrals and access to equipment.
providing a supportive atmosphere for the exchange of information, assistance and ideas.
HISTORY:
Reel Women began in April 1996 as an informal networking organization for women interested in filmmaking. It has since become a valuable service organization with more than 300 members, offering a wide variety of services to women (and others!) at all levels of experience in the film and video industries.
FUNDING:
REEL WOMEN is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization, funded in part through the Cultural Contracts program of the City of Austin’s Office of Economic Growth and Development. Additional funds are generated through memberships, workshop fees, special events/fundraisers, grants, corporate sponsorships and private donations.
