REEL WOMEN would, once again, like to make a call for short scripts for The Production Group. In the past, REEL WOMEN has produced a short film once a year, written by and fully crewed by REEL WOMEN members, to help give members opportunities to work on a real set. This year we are hoping to producing 2-3 shorts but we need your scripts!

Script Criteria:

• Must be in standard script format. (If you don’t have access to something like Final Draft, there are several free options online like Celtx or Zhura)
• No longer than 10 pages/minutes (the screenwriting rule-of-thumb is that it’s about a minute per written page)
• Must be “women subject matter” and/or show women in a positive light or role. It would be preferred if the story was uplifting. (REEL WOMEN uses these Production Group produced films when seeking grants and when working with children of the community.) All genres are welcomed, especially comedies, as long as it follows our “strong woman” theme.
• Must be producible on a small budget meaning it must have minimal locations and characters.

The REEL WOMEN Production Group offers excellent opportunities for learning new skills (from operating equipment or writing a budget to breaking down a script), working as a team, networking, developing leadership abilities, becoming resourceful (finding props, locations or funding) and taking a project from pre-production through completion. In following with our mission, the Production Group is for REEL WOMEN members only.
